The War against England 1807 - 14.
In all of the Danish crowns countries the English attack caused the strongest bitternes. The crown prince shared this mood and refuced to accept the agreement, which was now concluded in Copenhagen. He fully joint Russia and France. By this Denmark got a war against England for more years and soon after also against Sweden, when this country was attacked by Russia. These years of war destroyed Denmarks trade and began to break up the state, because the connection to Norway was almost cut off.
By means of the state and by voluntary contributions they tryed to create a new navy, mostly consisting of rowing-canon boats, of which in the next years were build about two hundred. Our canon boat fleet sometimes fought successfully against the much bigger English ships, and often took English trading ships, but such small scale victoryes weighted only a little against the fact, that the English navy was fully in control of the Danish waters.
